An error occurred while updating steam no connection

I've deleted my steam folder, and tried everything I could find but nothing has worked.. It would help if you listed the brand of your new router, and its model number.
To the best of my knowledge I don't think that i'm using/installed any proxy software or any security software that would stop steam making HTTP connections from my machine.
